Grand opening of new subsidiary offices in Germany

MicroStep's German subsidiary MicroStep Europa GmbH has head office in Bavaria (Germany) and several locations throughout the regions of Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Its second biggest office is located in the heart of Germany's highly industrial Ruhr region – the city of Dorsten, an hour's drive short of Düsseldorf.

Although being an important branch office for many years with more than 200 MicroStep cutting machines installed in the area, the Dorsten subsidiary had yet to wait for new, state-of-the-art premises. After several years of planning, preparations and about a year of construction, the wait is now over. The 1,300 m² training and demonstration center – or CompetenceCenter Nord as officially called – opened its doors to more than 300 guests from politics, business and trade in an unprecedented Open Day event on May 19, 2022.

The visitors experienced an eventful day filled with technology demonstrations and presentations, taking place in the 800 m² large showroom and a dedicated training room within the modern 500 m² office spaces.

Throughout the day, around 300 guests from business, trade and politics observed the latest technologies from MicroStep and its partners

"Today is a very special day for us," recognized MicroStep Europa's Managing Director Johannes Ried in his welcome speech. "More than 15 years ago, the decision was made to put the MicroStep flag in North Rhine-Westphalia and open a new location in the north-west of the republic. Here, where the heart of our metalworking industry beats."

CompetenceCenter Nord offers permanent demonstrations of MicroStep's core technologies: plasma, fiber laser, oxyfuel, waterjet as well as drilling, tapping and countersinking. Four cutting machines are on display to showcase the versatility of MicroStep solutions. All cutting technologies are available in 2D as well as 3D, including processing of pipes and domes.

Among the visitors were many notable guests from business and also politics, such as the Slovak Ambassador in Germany, His Excellency Mr. Marián Jakubócy, or Dorsten's Mayor Tobias Stockhoff, who expressed enthusiasm for the project after an on-site tour: “The new training center fits perfectly into the commercial area built at the former mining location. MicroStep is a highly innovative company. A big compliment for this forward-looking investment.”

The program was rounded off by specialized lectures on MicroStep's areas of expertise such as bevel cutting / weld seam preparation on a wide variety of materials and geometric shapes, drilling solutions, or MicroStep's advanced projects in automation & digitalization.

It has been a steady growth for MicroStep since its founding by members of the Department of Automation and Regulation at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Slovakia 31 years ago. The appreciation of our technologies by our customers especially from German speaking countries – one of worlds' most advanced industrial regions – gives good justification for MicroStep's mission as innovator within the CNC cutting sector. We are grateful to each of our clients for the opportunity.

MicroStep Europa GmbH was founded in 1999. As the largest MicroStep subsidiary, it experienced substantial growth over the years, placing more than 800 cutting machines in the region of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. With a workforce of over 90 employees, well-structured sales teams and extensive customer services, the company keeps proving excellence in support of MicroStep machines and technologies in the DACH region.
